2018 Game Fair 27th - 29th July, Ragley Hall in Warwickshire.
At the recent London fly fishing show The Fly Dressers Guild were approached by the organisers of the fishing village element of the 2018 Game Fair which will be held at Ragley Hall in Warwickshire. The Game fair is 60 years old this year and the organisers would like our members to design and tie a fly that captures the essence of the show. Suggested themes include the Game Fair colours, materials that can be obtained from the gamekeeper, flies that would grace a country home and so on. The type and style of fly is limited only by your imagination.
To get a feeling for the”flavour” of The Game fair have a look at their website https://www.thegamefair.org/ What’s in it for me? I hear you ask. The winning design will be adopted as the 60th anniversary fly and its originator will be invited to the Game Fair. The fly will be used in advance publicity and it is hoped the designer will attend a presentation of the fly at the show and explain how and why the fly came about. It stands to reason that a fly with a good back story would be more welcome than just a design with no “soul” In addition the public will be challenged to tie your design at the show with a prize for the best effort. How do you enter? Simply send your fly directly to Mr John Hunter, Angling Consultant, The Game Fair, Winchester Court, 1 Forum place, Hatfield, Herts. AL10 0RN Please include your name and address together with a short note with your story and the ingredients list. Flies should be packaged securely in a clean small plastic box. Submitted flies will become the property of The Game Fair. All entries must be received by the 12th of May 2018
